As the clock strikes midnight, signaling the start of a new year, many of us are filled with a sense of hope and renewal. We make promises to ourselves to change, to improve, and to become the best version of ourselves. But as the days go by, our enthusiasm often wanes, and we find ourselves stuck in the same old patterns. That’s where leadership coach and life expert, Jonathan Freitas, comes in.

In this exclusive interview, Jonathan shares his insights on how to reflect on the past year and reset our goals for the new one. With his guidance, we can learn to let go of what’s holding us back and unlock our full potential.

Reflecting on the Past Year

According to Jonathan, the first step to creating a better future is to reflect on the past. “It’s essential to take the time to look back on the past year and acknowledge our accomplishments, no matter how small they may seem,” he says. “This helps us build confidence and recognize our strengths.”

However, Jonathan also emphasizes the importance of confronting our weaknesses and setbacks. “We must be honest with ourselves about what didn’t work out and what we could have done differently,” he advises. “This is not about beating ourselves up over our mistakes but about learning from them and using that knowledge to grow.”

Resetting Our Goals

Once we’ve reflected on the past year, it’s time to set our sights on the future. He recommends setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) goals that align with our values and passions. “Our goals should excite and inspire us, not feel like a chore,” he says.

But how do we ensure that we stick to our goals and make lasting changes? Jonathan suggests creating an accountability system, whether it’s sharing our goals with a friend or family member or hiring a coach. “Having someone to report to and stay accountable with can make all the difference in achieving our goals,” he emphasizes.

As we embark on this new year, Jonathan’s guidance reminds us that change is possible, but it requires effort, commitment, and patience. By reflecting on the past year and resetting our goals, we can break free from the status quo and unlock our full potential.
